Navigate Upbase and customize your sidebar
This guide helps you understand the main areas of Upbase and shows you how to customize the sidebar, so you can move around the app with confidence and set it up your way.

1. Workspace switcher & search
At the top-left, you’ll find:
- Your workspace name
- A quick search to find tasks, projects, docs, and more
- A way to switch between workspaces (if you have more than one)
2. Main navigation
This is your primary menu for everyday work:
- Schedule – See tasks with due dates across projects. This is where you and your team plan your day, week, and month.
- Clients – Manage client companies and guests.
- Reports – Track progress and insights, such as project status, task created/completed/overdue, and timesheets.
- Spotlight – Keep track of important tasks across projects.
- My Tasks – Tasks assigned to you or created by you appear here for quick access.
- Chat – Team and project conversations.
3. Bookmarks
Bookmarks let you save shortcuts to things you use often, such as:
- Specific task lists
- Reports
- Views or pages
You can add or remove bookmarks anytime.
4. Projects
This is where all your work lives.
- Projects are grouped by sections
- Each project has its own tasks, docs, files, and messages
- Click a project to open and start working
5. Filters
Filters help you quickly narrow things down.
For example:
- Tasks that are In Progress
- Tasks assigned to you
- Tasks with specific conditions
6. Tags
Tags help you organize and categorize work across projects, such as:
- Urgent
- In progress
Click a tag to see all related tasks.
7. Settings
Settings is where you manage:
- Workspace settings
- People & permissions
- Personal preferences
- Integrations and notifications
8. Notifications & quick menu
At the top-right, you’ll find:
- 🔔 Bell icon – Activity notifications
- # icon – Chat notifications
- Grid icon – The Quick Menu, where you can quickly create things like tasks, docs, links, and more
9. Project modules
Inside a project, you’ll see modules across the top, such as:
- Tasks
- Schedule
- Docs
- Files
- Links
- Messages
- Chat
These modules help you organize different types of work within the same project.
Customize sidebar
Upbase lets you customize the sidebar so it shows only what you need—and in the order you prefer.
Open Customize sidebar
- Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Click Customize sidebar.
You’ll enter Customize sidebar mode.

Show or hide sidebar items
Click the 👁️ Eye icon next to any item to show or hide it.
This works for:
- Main menu items (Schedule, Clients, Reports, etc.)
- Sections like Bookmarks, Projects, Filters, and Tags
Hidden items won’t appear in your sidebar but can be turned back on anytime.

Reorder sidebar items
- Drag and drop items to change their position.
- You can reorder both menu items and sections.
This helps you keep your most-used areas at the top.

Exit customize mode
- Click Back to exit Customize sidebar mode.
- Your changes are saved automatically.

Good to know
- Sidebar customization is personal—it only affects your view.
- You can update it anytime as your workflow changes.
