Relations: Link tasks to related docs, files, and messages

Relations let you link related items together—so you can quickly jump between tasks, docs, files, links, and messages.

Relations are bi-directional, which means:

  • If you link a doc to a task, the task is also linked back to the doc
  • You can move back and forth between related items easily

This is especially useful for client projects where work is spread across different modules.

Add a relation to a task

You can link docs, files, links, and messages to a task.

To add a relation from a task:

  1. Open the task to view its details.
  2. Click the ellipsis (… ) icon.
  3. Select Relation.

Tip: When viewing a task’s details, you can press R on your keyboard to quickly open the Relation modal—no need to use the menu.

The Relation popup will appear.

  1. Search for and select the items you want to link to the task.

  • After adding the first item, hover over it and click the + button to add more
  • If multiple items are already linked, hover over the last item to find the + button

Once linked, you can click any related item to jump directly to it.

You can also create relations from other items.

To do this:

  1. Open the doc, file, link, or message.
  2. Click the Relation icon in the top-right corner (next to the Watchers icon).
  3. Search for and select the items you want to link.

Relations help keep all related work connected—making it easier to navigate complex projects and keep client work organized.
